Mike Centanne and Chase Peligro Perry (formerly of Bristol Brewing Co.) of Iron Bird Brewing were in need of a brand identity for their newest venture: Metric Brewing (opening in 2018). The dream behind Metric Brewing is a community gathering space where brewers from around Colorado Springs can collaborate and experiment on brews that the demands of their existing breweries can’t accommodate. They needed a brand identity that could express their commitment to exploration, collaboration and quality. The Metric brand focuses on bright colors and highly-textured imagery that features the three foundational ingredients of any beer: Water, malt, and hops.
Mike came in with a logo concept that he had sketched out at home: an abstract shape with a hidden “M” (for Metric) and strong, bold lettering.
By building on the concept that Mike had already envisioned, we were able to create a logo that spoke to his original concept with strong nods toward a head of wheat, which is a fundamental ingredient of the craft beers that Mike and Chase create.
